Procedure

The following numbered list describes in point form how these unique images are obtained.

  1. Objects are placed on a flatbed scanner. We are currently using a Fuji Lanovia 550C and an Epson Expression 1640 XL.
  2. Two scans of the object are acquired at a resolution of between 1600 dpi and 5080 dpi. One at a focal length equal to the height of the glass and the other at 6mm above the glass.
  3. From within Adobe Photoshop, the two scans are combined together. Areas in one scan will be slightly more focused then the same area in the other scan. Combining these layers produces a greater focal length than is otherwise possible with a single scan.
  4. The background of the combined scans is then carefully removed and any unsightly dirt or dust is removed from the image.
  5. The final high quality, high resolution image is ready for printing. Once an order is received, the digital file is printed on our Epson Stylus Pro 9600 printer.
